Interesting facts:
- Peacocks are considered one of the most beautiful birds in the world due to their magnificent "tail", which is unique to males.
- In fact, peacocks have a very small and unremarkable tail. Feathers forming a multicolored "fan" behind their backs grow above their tails.
- Peacock is one of the constellations in the Southern Hemisphere.
- The common peacock is a national symbol of India and Iran, as this bird is revered as sacred in Hinduism.
- Peacocks live for about 20 years. Their beautiful feathers grow back when the birds turn 3 years old.
- The length of one peacock feather can reach 2 meters.
- The peacock's "tail" has its own purpose – birds use it to communicate. Scientists have found that peacock feathers transmit infrasound when they move, which humans cannot hear. Presumably, this is how birds warn each other about danger.
- Peacocks are excellent hunters of young cobras, which is why they are often kept near homes in India.
- The peacock's body length is 100-125 centimeters.
