The photo shows our Crocodile caiman, which was given to us by the zoo in Ueckermunde, Germany in 2002!
He came to us at the age of 30, and now he is as much as 45 years old!
Interesting facts:
- The crocodile caiman has preserved its ancient appearance more than any other species.
- Crocodile caimans can see and hear well
- They can't chew.
- Crocodile caimans can go without food for up to a year and a half. 60% of the food they eat turns into fat.
- "Crocodile tears" are nothing more than a protective reaction of the body to excess salts.
- Despite the fact that crocodiles belong to the class of reptiles, their closest relatives are not turtles, lizards or snakes, but birds.
- The sex of the cubs is affected by the temperature of the clutch. If the eggs were kept at an average temperature of about 32 degrees, then mostly males hatch. If the temperature was higher or lower, the females
