Interesting facts:
  • Oryx is a large antelope
  • Owners of 32 teeth. The length of the animal's skull is approximately 40 cm.
  • It is a territorial animal that uses its horns to establish dominance in the herd.
  • Oryx can survive for a long period without water (even a couple of weeks)
  • Unlike other mammals, oryx can raise body temperature to prevent sweating and loss of body water during the day. It also uses a specific network of capillaries in the nose to cool the blood that travels to the brain. Cooling the blood prevents overheating of the brain
  • The average life expectancy of an oryx is 15-18 years in captivity
