New Residents at Almaty Zoo – Eastern Colobus Monkeys

Meet the newest additions to our zoo – Eastern colobus monkeys. The female, Lusya, and the male, Shumis, both born in 2018, are now on display, and visitors can already see them.

Eastern colobus monkeys, also known as guerezas, are elegant and striking primates belonging to the Old World monkey family. Their unique black-and-white fur and graceful movements make them a fascinating sight.
