Interesting facts:
- Giraffe is the tallest animal on the planet
- The giraffe's neck is very long, but like other mammals it has seven vertebrae.
- In just one minute, the giraffe's heart distills about 60 liters of blood.
- Giraffes have a long and muscular dark-colored tongue, with which they can reach a branch 45 centimeters away.
- Giraffes can be distinguished from each other by the pattern on their fur. Each giraffe has an individual one, like human fingerprints.
- Giraffes have good eyesight, which allows them to see their relatives or danger at a distance of 1 kilometer.
- Giraffes sleep standing up. Such a dream lasts only five minutes. And if the giraffe needs to sleep longer, then he lies down on the ground, tucking his legs under him and throwing his neck to the side.
- Giraffes can reach speeds of up to 55 km/h if necessary.
- By the way giraffes pick leaves, you can tell their gender. If a giraffe plucks leaves from the very top of a tree, then it is a male. Females eat only those leaves that are located at the level of their body.
- The age of a giraffe is easily recognized by the color of its spots. If they are light brown, then the giraffe is young, the dark color of the spots indicates the opposite.
- The average life expectancy of a giraffe is 25 – 35 years in captivity
